Dr. N. JayaKumar., M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., started his career on 23/07/1990 as an Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry at Sri Vasavi College. He concentrated more on imparting his knowledge to the student community thereby motivating them to get University ranks. After taking up the position as the Head of the Department in June 2009, he took constant efforts to upgrade the department as Research department to offer M.Phil., Programme from 2011-12.
He has taken efforts to improve the activities of Sri Vasavi Chemistry Alumni Association which generally supports the development of chemistry department both financially and academically. He has 29 years of teaching experience.
He acted as the Member of College Council from June 2009, and the member College Magazine Committee. He worked as Chief Superintendent for Bharathiar University Examinations at our College(both regular & distance education) held during the month of April/May & November/December for 15 semesters in the period from April 2004 to November 2012.
He also acted as Chief Superintendent for TNPSC & TANCET examinations, He acted as a Member in Board of studies in Chemistry(UG) for many Autonomous Colleges, Vigilance Squad for Bharathiar University Exams, Additional Camp Officer for Bharathiar University Central Valuation , University Representative for Bharathiar University Examination, External Practical Examiner for various colleges, Assistant- coordinator & resource person for Young Students Scientist Programme organized by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology during May 2010, Membership in academic bodies, subject expert in the panel of selection committee for the appointment of Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Aided colleges are the other roles he undertook.
He also acted as a Chairperson for the UGC sponsored National Seminar conducted at Gobi Arts & Science College(Autonomous), Gobi and he has been an External Examiner for the conduct of Ph.D., Viva Voce Examination.
He guided 7 M.Phil., Scholars, at present 6 candidates are pursuing and 4 Ph.D., candidates are under his supervision. He has so far published 13 research papers in National and International Journals.He has presented papers in 3 National Conferences & Seminars and also participated in 9 Conferences/Seminars/Workshops.
FUTURE PLANS
- To improve the activities of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
- Getting Autonomous status to our college.
- Exploring different means and ways of fund generation from UGC and other funding agencies.
- Aiming for potential for excellence.
- As a researcher, efforts will be taken to get research projects (both major and minor) which leads into the development of new research areas in our institution.
- Setting of green environment in the college campus.
- To improve the basic infrastructure of the college to the possible extent.
