The Department of English was started in the year 1994-95. This department takes care of teaching Part-II English to various under-graduate programmes offered in our College. B.A. English literature was started in the year 2010-11 with an approved intake of 50. The department offers M.Phil. (Part-time) English programme.
A language laboratory is functioning to develop the communication skills of the students. The lab is equipped with 12 systems, headphones and mic, a three-in-one audio system and a 5KVA UPS. The Department conducted a seminar on Teaching English to Socially Disadvantaged Learners in March 2002.

 ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES

The English Literary Association (ELA) aims at improving the language efficiency of the students. It conducts periodic seminars for the betterment of the students. The department is bringing out an annual bulletin Vasavi Literaria with editorial contributions from students and staff.
