Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a movement started by the government of India in schools and colleges through which students will spread awareness over HIV/AIDS. The RRC of Sri Vasavi College is encouraging the students to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. It creates volunteerism among the youth to contribute towards the control and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Various activities have been conducted by the co – ordinators by keeping in mind the objectives and role of the Red Ribbon Club. Currently Dr. P.Thilagavathi , Dr. R.Chandirasekar are the Co-ordinators for Aided Wing and Dr.A.Gurumoorthy , Ms. D.Manopriya are the Co-ordinators for Self-Finance Wing.
- To create awareness on sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
- To motivate the youth to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS, thereby reducing discrimination among the HIV infected persons.
- To promote voluntary Blood Donation among youth.
RRC of Vasavi College conducts HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes to our students to be vigilant on HIV infection among youth. The programme focuses on ethical values, character building and health related awareness.
On account of national youth day, a programme was conducted to emphasis the importance of cleanlines, hygine and sanitation and awareness was created about various diseases that are caused due to poor hygenic condition.
