The Department of Mathematics offers both under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes in Mathematics. The under-graduate programme, B.Sc. Mathematics was started in the year 1969-70, with a sanctioned strength of 50. The department offers either Accountancy or Physics as allied subjects in the first year and Statistics subject in the second year of B.Sc., Mathematics programme. The post-graduate programme, M.Sc,. Mathematics was started in the year 1981-82, with a sanctioned strength of 20. Both the UG and PG curriculum includes a judicious mix of pure and applied mathematics subjects, including computer-programming subjects. The curriculum includes computer practical classes. The department offers M.Phil., and Ph. D., research programmes in Mathematics, both in Full-Time as well as Part-Time, from the year 2002-2003.
